The Ruins

by Danilo Stern-Sapad

A haunting symphonic metal piece exploring decay, memory, and what remains after devastation.

Lyrics

This masonry is wondrous, fates broke it apart, Courtyard pavements smashed, a tale from the heart. The work of giants, now decaying in the night, Roofs have fallen, towers lost their fight.

Frosty gates, cement ravaged and worn, Chipped roofs torn, by the grasp of time, forlorn. The earth’s embrace takes the mighty builders down, Generations pass, leaving silence in the town.

Lichen-grey walls, stained with red, Stood through storms, though now they’re dead. Masonry endures, in winds cut deep, Ancient echoes, in the stones, they weep.

Bright were the castle buildings, halls of festivity, High gables, noise of the multitude in serenity. Mead halls full of joy, laughter in the air, Until Fate the mighty, left despair.

Far and wide the slain perished in the days of pestilence, Death took all the brave, their places left in silence. Cities decayed, rebuilders gone to dust, Armies to the earth, in ruins we trust.

Lichen-grey walls, stained with red, Stood through storms, though now they’re dead. Masonry endures, in winds cut deep, Ancient echoes, in the stones, they weep.

Stone buildings stood, streams threw up heat, Walls enclosed all, where the baths would meet. Hot in the heart, a comfort found, Now just ruins, scattered on the ground.

[Instrumental Break: Symphonic Metal Instrumentation] [Guitar solo with orchestral backing, intense and emotional]

Warriors adorned in gold-bright splendor, Proud and flushed with wine, memories to remember. Treasures of silver, jewels in their hands, Bright castles of a broad kingdom, now deserted lands.

Hot streams poured over grey stone, Convenient once, now just echoes alone. The ringed sea, the baths where warmth did flow, Now cold and silent, where the winds blow.

Lichen-grey walls, stained with red, Stood through storms, though now they’re dead. Masonry endures, in winds cut deep, Ancient echoes, in the stones, they weep.

In the ruins of giants, history lies, Tales of glory under the skies. Though the walls may crumble, the spirit remains, In the stones of the ruins, through the ages’ chains.
