Waiting for the Terrorists
by Danilo Stern-Sapad
A provocative rock song exploring themes of fear, security, and societal anxiety.
Lyrics
[Verse 1] What are we waiting for, assembled in the square? The word on the street, the terrorists are near. Congress is silent, no laws to create, Why bother now, we’re all just gonna wait.
[Pre-Chorus] They’re coming today, they’ll take control, Why make a move when they’ll play the role?
[Chorus] The terrorists are coming, can you feel the fear? They’re gonna take over, change is near. President’s ready, sitting in wait, Handing them the power, sealed by fate.
[Verse 2] Congressmen and women in their finest gear, Fancy suits and jewelry, the message clear. Talking heads quiet, no speeches today, Terrorists don’t listen to the words we say.
[Bridge] Sudden confusion, what’s going on? The streets are empty, the crowds are gone. Night is falling, no one’s here, Where are the terrorists? They’ve disappeared.
[Verse 3] Now we’re left alone, what will we do? Without the terrorists, we’re lost, it’s true. They were the answer, our way to cope, Now we’ve got nothing, just shattered hope.
[Pre-Chorus] They were our plan, our scapegoat scheme, Now we’re left with just a broken dream.
[Chorus] The terrorists were coming, but they’re not here, We’re left to face our greatest fear. Without them here to take the blame, We’ve got no one but ourselves to name.
[Outro] What are we waiting for, in this empty square? The terrorists are gone, now we’re just scared. Without them here to play the part, We’re left alone with our fragile hearts.
